At nearly a century old, Warwick Publishing (asi/95280) is anything but set in its ways. As such, the fifth-generation family-owned supplier just took a big leap forward in sustainability, earning Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification through SCS Global Services.

Warwick Publishing (asi/95280), which manufactures paper products at its St. Charles, IL, facility, recently earned Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody certification.

The supplier, which manufactures mainly paper products at its St. Charles, IL-based facility, works with local recycling plants to process its manufacturing waste responsibly. Earning third-party certification for its sustainability efforts furthers those efforts, according to Warwick.

“Our team has put in a lot of work for our company to achieve FSC chain of custody certification,” said Alex Paschal, fifth-generation co-owner and president of Warwick. “We’re excited to finally have our first real feather in our cap in regard to responsible sourcing. We have an obligation as a commercial printer to enable sustainable and responsible product sourcing, and I’m incredibly proud of our team for working together to bring this to fruition.”

FSC says it’s the most rigorous international standard for responsible forestry, with FSC-certified forests conserving biological diversity, water resources and crucial ecosystems. The FSC standard also upholds workers’ rights and supports economic prosperity in surrounding communities. The FSC chain of custody certification ensures that certified wood products are tracked from forest to final product, adding legitimacy to the FSC claim throughout the supply chain.

SCS Global Services, itself a certified B Corp, is one of the world’s leading FSC certifiers with more than 35 million acres of responsibly managed forests and 4,000 companies in the FSC supply chain worldwide. It’s a founding member and one of the first certification bodies accredited by the FSC in 1996.

Founded in 1926 as a newspaper publisher and calendar company, Warwick manufactures a majority of its products in its facility in the western suburbs of Chicago. It specializes in paper-based products with ink offset, digital print, foil stamp and embossed decorating techniques.

Warwick joins several other promotional products suppliers with FSC certification, including Counselor Top 40 suppliers Koozie Group (asi/40480) and Gemline (asi/56070).
